Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I choose a Mentor? First complete your profile with information about yourself and what you are looking for. The program administrators will review with the slate of available mentors to find the best one for you.
- How long will the mentors be available? The Ignite program lasts for five months, where you'll meet every three or four weeks for 45 minutes.
- What if my mentorship relationship isn't going well? Shoot us a note at mentorship@cambridgeassociates.com. We'll be glad to help figure out the best way to resolve the situation without causing any awkwardness.
Mentee DO's
- Be proactive in your relationship. Come prepared and be honest and open.
- Understand what you want from the mentoring relationship and communicate your goals and aspirations to your mentor. Balance personal and professional relationship with your mentor.
- Set aside time for the mentoring process. If you aren't able to keep a scheduled appointments with your mentor, be sure to reschedule as soon as possible..
- Respond to your mentor's feedback. Loop them in on your thoughts, feelings, anxieties, etc. They're there to provide support with your growth. They are not, however, a therapist.
- Be open and honest with your mentor about your challenges and weaknesses.
Mentee DON'Ts
- Ask for advice on everything. Have a purpose in each request.
- Blame the mentor if his or her advice doesn't work out.
- Expect the mentor to know all the answers.
- Commit yourself to obligations you cannot keep.
- Cancel meetings/visits with your mentor at the last minute.
